- The monograph presents significant original findings based on over ten years of fieldwork at German and Austrian history museums and history exhibitions. Its scope is unusually broad for the field, covering a wider range of museums and exhibitions than existing studies of German cultural memory. It proposes fundamental new categories and concepts for the analysis of German history museums that deal with the National Socialist past. It is the first study of its kind to reflect specifically on the materiality of German memory in history museums.
