- Double-weighted statement
- Based upon extensive archival and site-based research, this monograph is the product of over seven years doctoral and postdoctoral research and includes copious previously unpublished materials gathered during two fellowships at Yale and one at the Bodleian. It pioneers a new interpretation of the Gothic Revival based upon distinct, periodised shifts in the understanding and application of medieval aesthetic traditions. Its engagement with and theoretical reinterpretation of Gothic design between 1730 and 1840 draws on a range of scholarly disciplines including history, art history, architectural history, design history, and furniture history.
