- This paper implements platooning control for a fleet of sailboats to maintain a constant time headway and to avoid collision. The paper is significant because: it is the first time in the literature that the problem of platooning control for a fleet of sailboats, rather than land vehicles or drones, is addressed; second, it shows that the corresponding formation control for a fleet of sailboats can enhance the capability of autonomous sailboats for long-duration ocean exploration.
