- This paper evaluates taxonomies used by researchers to classify and understand visualisation tasks and highlights the lack of methodology used by researchers. The paper provides guidance on strategies for constructing taxonomies and how to validate them and thereby produce better taxonomies from which conclusions can be drawn and work reused by other researchers. This paper won an Honourable Mention award at EuroVis 2017.
