- Rapidly developing visual analytics research is still lacking a proper theoretical foundation. This paper - the result of collaboration between major visual analytics research groups in Europe - proposes a model building view for conceptualizing visual analytics workflows. The paper was published in Computer Graphics Forum and presented at EuroVis (Eurographics/IEEE Symposium on Visualization), a leading EU venue in the discipline area. The paper motivated an intensive discussion of key researchers and a series of follow-up papers.
