- Double-weighted statement
- Coming at the end of decades of research, this critical edition clarifies for the first time the enormously complex performance history of one of Donizetti’s most popular operas, publishing several hitherto unknown additions of the score. Its Historical Introduction (more than 30,000 words long) is based on a host of new sources and provides a comprehensive picture of the opera’s performance history during the composer’s lifetime. The bulk of the work was completed by Parker; the co-author, originally an MMus student at KCL, worked on a draft of the critical commentary and wrote the Paris sections of the Historical Introduction.
