- Double-weighted statement
- The monograph, the result of over five years’ work, is 319 pages long and addresses a diverse range and unusual collection of materials in three languages. The original research required was demanding not just in terms of its linguistic and textual diversity (ranging from late antique Hellenistic culture to medieval English romance textuality) but also because of the archival study of manuscripts involved in some parts of the book, which involved considerable time at the British Library. In addition, the work involved the synthesis of an eclectic variety of scholarly fields and discourses, from early medieval studies to modern nationalism.
