- Rommerskirchen worked on this study from 2010-2018. The statistical evidence consisted of a bespoke database covering all EU countries from 1990-2015, with political, economic and socio-economic variables that required data cleaning and merging across multiple sources. On the qualitative side, in addition to a comprehensive review of primary and secondary sources, Rommerskirchen carried out 53 interviews over 8 years at the European Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament, and Permanent Representations of the Member States to the EU, Eurostat (Luxembourg) and the IMF (Washington), plus 18 interviews with fixed-income managers, investors, and market analysts in Frankfurt, Chicago and Brussels.
