- This is the first book of its kind which documents the 2008 economic crisis in France and Britain and explores the early days of these countries' austerity measures and their impact on women of colour. Drawing on rich empirical data from France, Scotland and England, this text demonstrates how women of colour are disproportionately disadvantaged by the dramatic cuts and privatisations of the welfare states in each country. The text investigates how women of colour were beginning to mobilise against the roll-back of the welfare state and deftly anticipates key welfare struggles over vital public services.
