- This book is the result of a long-term research project spanning over a decade. It is based upon consultation and analysis of a wide range of public and private archival sources in multiple locations across France as well as the use of literary and visual material. These have been used to present an original and in-depth discussion of the theme of pollical disgrace and the experience of internal exile over two centuries from the perspective of court aristocrats, ministers, judges, clergy and other members of the French elites.
