- A novel thresholding segmentation is proposed in the context of nuclear segmentation in oral cancer stained microscopy images. This method attracted the attention of imaging research community and inspired further developments such as the analysis of fossil and archaeological specimens, the analysis of medical images in neurosurgery, anatomy and pathology. The software for this method has been used widely for segmentation purposes (https://blog.bham.ac.uk/intellimic/g-landini-software/threshold-from-gradient-of-region-boundaries/). The method was proposed as part of an EPRSC funded project. The method was cited as a contribution in the final technical report of this report. This paper was cited by 30 papers (Examples: https://doi.org/10.7717/peerj.5778, https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0188717 ).
