- Receipt-freeness is an important privacy property in e-voting, as it helps fighting vote buying and voter coercion. However, it is an elusive property; it is difficult to achieve and prove. We provide a solution to these problems simultaneously, by presenting a rigorous definition and a proof for receipt-freeness of a new e-voting protocol. Their impact and applicability have been significant: a) in our paper, a previous well-known construction was proven insecure using our definition; b) numerous subsequent publications, some in top conferences, have made use of both our definition and protocol.
