- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph emerges from ten years’ research effort into the aesthetics, practices, communities and exhibition structures of photochemical film culture. The research involved a long-term, direct personal involvement in the international experimental film community in multiple ways, as both a researcher and a curator. These included organising events with filmmakers, travelling to film labs, observing working practices, conducting interviews and participating in filmmaking retreats and workshops to understand specific technical approaches. The research process was complex and demanding, combining practice with different strands of thought: film studies, new materialism, post-humanism, media archaeology, environmental politics and social ecology.
