- This 160,000 word book formed the main research focus for Hingley for five years, including three terms of research leave. Londinium provides the first large synthesis of the evidence for Roman London since 1990 and involved substantial data collection from the wealth of archaeological excavations undertaken across London over the past three decades. The research was a complex, multilevel process of creative investigation, including the establishment of a chronological and geographical framework for the development and decline of this major Roman town, and the formulation of a thematic approach to the chronological development of this urban landscape.
