- This book (504 pages, 210 illustrations, 17 contributors) is the full and final publication of a substantial three-year collaborative fieldwork and research project, representing a large body of data, research and interpretation from a previously archaeologically unexplored region. It covers a period from c. 10,000 BC to 1920 in the Turkish Black Sea region. As well as reporting and interpreting all the material, it uses the data to address conceptual themes such as connectivity vs particularity, mobility, and hybridity in imperial contexts. This is done for each period covered, but is also traced diachronically across key landscapes.
