- Double-weighted statement
- This composite edition of the various media with which Ruskin recorded this formative European tour, in prose, verse and drawings, is newly edited and annotated with previously unpublished material. A thirty-five page introduction examines every aspect of its contexts and practices while demonstrating how it provided the basis for his future interdisciplinary methods. Included is the first full catalogue and in some cases original publication of the related drawings. Among a number of reviews was one in the TLS September 29 2017. It was the winner of the Ruskin Society Book Prize, 2017.

- Hanley had the benefit of an MHRA Research Associate in the Ruskin Centre some of whose tasks were involved in this edition. She checked and researched the locations of 1835 drawings, proof-read the transcription of one of the items, and did a first draft of a two-page commentary on the Drawings Section which Hanley rewrote and which is credited to her in the book. The extensive introduction and everything else was Hanley's work. In acknowledgement of her contribution, Hanley included her as co-editor, and estimates that her contribution was less than 10% of the overall edition.
