- Additional information
- This output consists of the following elements: Brock’s chapter, together with his contribution to the development and execution of the research project of which the book is the culmination, including its editing and preparation for publication, the work of which was equitably shared between the co-editors. The project was initiated by Brock’s invitation to Duplouy to spend a period at Leeds as visiting scholar, funded by the British Academy [add grant number?]: one major outcome was two colloquia, the first in Leeds near the end of his visit and the second in Paris in the following year (again supported by the BA), at which preliminary versions of the chapters in the volume other than the introduction were delivered. The subsequent editorial work to develop these, bringing them into dialogue for publication, and prepare the volume as a whole was jointly undertaken by the co-editors; Brock’s chapter responds to prompting from the OUP readers to go beyond a simple summary and to articulate the diversity of conceptions of archaic citizenship represented in the other contributions, place them in a larger geographical context and outline possible future directions for research in the field.
