- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph proposes an original theoretical framework to argue that the processes of deindustrialisation and redevelopment depend upon theatrical events and performative acts, thereby demonstrating the significant role of theatre and performance in manifestations of urban change. Based on a substantial period of research, the argument develops over a series of case studies, each of which is the first chapter-length treatment of its subject in English. The book aims to reorient scholarly debate in performance and politics, shifting our attention from how theatre makes radical change to how theatre makes sense of change.
