- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph (a finalist for the international Waterloo Centre for German Studies prize for first-time authors) developed from sustained PhD research. The seven literary case-studies could stand alone as journal articles, and double-weighting is therefore requested. Comparing these case-studies allows Stone to examine evolving attitudes to German responsibility from a feminine perspective and identify limitations to authoritative critical paradigms in the field. The analysis is substantially contextualized with reference to broader debates in literature, film, politics, and historiography. Various perspectives are also employed to produce theoretical insights into relations between gender and memory, including sociological research on gender and nationhood.
