- This first sustained study of Geoffrey Hill’s later work (1996-2016), draws on never-before-used archival materials from the University of Leeds, and brings his Oxford Professor of Poetry lectures to bear on his work. It’s an “important point of reference for scholars working on Hill and contemporary English poetry since 1960s [and] a timely collection given the contemporary position of Hill in the field; it explores his philosophy of being, Hill as a controversial figure… explores poetic theory, advances understanding and considers Hill’s relation to other influencers (e.g. Eliot) and implications for reading their work now.” (Prof Katy Shaw, external reviewer)
