- Grants from the Institute of Advanced Study, British Academy and Leverhulme Trust enhanced the scope of this book by significantly enlarging Heath-Kelly’s time in the field. They facilitated scale increases of her engagement with research subjects in the US, UK, Indonesia and Norway, enabling the book to be built upon in-depth and genuinely comparative research materials collected and analysed over a six-year period. The fieldwork findings are placed within a conceptual framework that was constructed specifically for an interdisciplinary audience, exposing IR studies of death and mortality to novel arguments drawn from the fields of philosophy, theology and sociology.
