- Double-weighted statement
- This book develops an original theoretical argument integrating media and communications scholarship and theories developed by those who research the changing role of media and communication in China from other disciplinary perspectives, including sociology, political science and anthropology. The four empirical chapters are each article length and each critically examines a different media sector. The completion of the manuscript took a full year, following a two-year period of active collation and examination of substantial documentary evidence and the conduct of over 30 interviews, all building on a synthesis of research on Chinese media since 2007.
