- Double-weighted statement
- This is a 345,000-word book, the first to take an integrated approach to the history of the UK in this period, drawing together military, political, economic, social and cultural histories. In doing so, it offers a new interpretation of the war’s significance in British history and the role of military contingency in the international and global politics of 1945. It is the product of more than a decade of complex research work, sustained over different research questions and archives, including, among others, the National Archives, the Imperial War Museum and the Mass-Observation Archive.
