- The contributor statement outlines: “Griffin provided additional support on style and presentation and was the independent science adviser.” The role of an independent science adviser in a clinical trial is commonly defined as “performing extensive appraisals of medicines product information and providing professional opinion to various internal cross-functional working groups to support the delivery of projects.” Griffin was involved in the design of this study, he attended and actively participated in all clinical meetings, providing advice, direction and scientific input as appropriate. When writing the manuscript, he provided input on style and presentation as various drafts were circulated.
