- The book sets out a new theoretical approach and methodology in urban studies, namely Boundary Line Type Mapping. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, thus requiring the command of multiple disciplines and their literature. There are two case studies on very contrasting historical and geographical sites, post-Medieval to modern Winchester, UK, and Classical period Maya Chunchucmil, Mexico. These are substantial contributions in their own right, as well as illuminating the BLT method. Functional and experiential differences between the different models of urban life represented by the two cities are also explored, and the book also includes supplementary data explaining BLT definitions.
