- For the first time, this paper brought MCFs into data centres with a programmable DCN architecture. MCFs mitigate the cabling complexity of DCN and improve the connectivity for future large-scale DCN. The proposed DCN architecture offers DCN connections with a wider granularity range. The flexible bandwidth provision initialized a key research direction in optical DCN. This paper generated two invited talks on ACP 2017 (M1C.1) and ECOC 2018 workshop (WS12-2). Based on this work, several following papers are generated. [1]Y. Shu et al., Optical Fiber Technology, Vol.44, pp102-114, 2018. [2]K. Kondepu et al., JOCN, 10(7), B90–B101, 2018.
