- Double-weighted statement
- The book evidences extended scale and scope as a culmination of 3 years of work drawing on different data sources including published statistics, biographical and autobiographical testimony and prolonged case study interviews. The book employed a sustained research effort through historical, sociological, philosophical and ethical methods to describe, analyse, explain and evaluate the variety of complex relationships between sport and alcohol. It generated new and innovative frameworks (e.g., alcohol ethos) and offered an overall critical argument about the topic. Within the overall argument, a depth of analysis of disparate ideas were developed (e.g., the concept of role model).
