- This work investigates experimentally the effects of operating in the stable flow regime on the noise and performance of a high-speed compressor, correlating empirical and simulated data. This has implications for reduction of noise in automotive turbochargers. The work is funded by BorgWarner Turbo Systems, who intend to implement the findings in their future compressor designs ( Dr Keith Nickson, knickson@borgwarner.com) and has been presented at conferences of the SAE, ASME and IMechE. Validation testing was done in collaboration with Instituto Universitario De Motores Térmicos Valencia, and compares favourably with similar work at KTH in Stockholm.
