- Halliwell was jointly responsible, with Joel Rasmussen, for conceiving and editing this unique and interdisciplinary volume. Its genesis was the centenary of the death of William James, marked by a high-profile international conference at the University of Oxford in September 2010 sponsored by the British Association for American Studies and the United States Embassy, London. This anniversary event was co-convened (50%) by Halliwell, held on the site where James delivered his final public lecture series in 1908, published as his final complete published text A Pluralistic Universe in 1909. Halliwell and Rasmussen's volume comprehensively develops research presented at the conference, adding four commissioned essays to enhance its transatlantic reach. Halliwell co-wrote (50%) the 5,700-word Introduction, solely wrote (100%) his 8,000-word chapter (# 6), and co-compiled (50%) the 4,000-word bibliography. He worked closely with the 12 contributors and co-conducted (50%) editorial work across the whole volume, indexing the chapters to the nineteen-volume The Works of William James (Harvard UP).
