- Since the early 2000s, timeslices have been required to draw dynamic networks (sampling the dynamic graph at several discrete points in time). This paper transforms how dynamic networks are visualised by rejecting the timeslice and solving a major research challenge cited in a state-of-the-art report (EuroVis STAR, Beck et al. 2014). It presents the first dynamic graph drawing algorithm to draw these events directly in the space-time cube.
This research underpins the successful EPSRC grant EP/V033670/1 opening a wide research agenda and is one of the approaches used in prototypes for contact tracing visualisation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
