- Policy makers are under pressure to adopt climate policies that rapidly deliver society-wide decarbonisation. Durable by Design (Cambridge University Press, 2020, 244pp) is a substantial, nine chapter monograph that provides the first systematic analysis of the determinants of policy durability across three sub areas of climate policy, drawing on a novel interdisciplinary synthesis of many different theories. It breaks new ground by marshalling extensive empirical evidence to understand how far policies have shaped their own durability over an extended, thirty-year time period. It represents the primary output from a programme of long term research led by the author.
