- The liquation cracking mechanism during deformation of metallic grains in semi-solid regime was first hypothesised in this publication. The idea is being extensively explored in other alloy and non-metallic systems. The results are directly /indirectly useful to automotive, aerospace and metals processing sector. An EPSRC DTP PhD studentship is recently awarded to explore the liquation cracking phenomenon and an EPSRC grant proposal is in preparation to further investigate liquation cracking mechanisms in Ni-, Fe-, Co- and Al- systems'
