- The inclusion of both the special issue 'Introduction: Youth and the Post-Apocalyptic in Film, Television and Video Game' and the main article '"For Queen, For Country, For Kicks": Post-Apocalyptic Patriotism, Youth and Gender in Spooks: Code 9 (BBC Three, 2008)' as a single output is an indication of the interconnected nature of the individual pieces of research undertaken by Cornea.
The Introduction offers an important research context around the development of post-apocalyptic fiction across different media, teasing out the important role youth has played in such narratives. This illustrates how the special issue as a whole offers an intervention in a developing media debates; while Cornea's article expands and develops those ideas through the focus on a specific case study from British television. In so doing, the article demonstrates how this programme adopts a more reactionary tone around issues of youth and the post-apocalyptic than those considered in the Introduction. As such, the clear and distinct relationship between these two pieces of research indicates why they have been grouped together here.
