- This is a critical edition “longer-form output” with xxxviii + 618 pages. Based on over five years’ work, including transcription and translation into English of seventeen letters written by Clément Brasseur, held in the archives of the Africa Museum, Tervuren, Belgium. Additional archival material was collected at the Archives Africaines of the Ministère des Affaires Etrangères, Brussels, Archives of the Royal Geographical Society, London, National Archives of the UK and National Archives of Zambia. With over 1,000 footnotes. it advances a new interpretation of the colonial occupation of Katanga and of the workings of the Congo Free State.
