- This paper describes results of the first empirical work has been carried out to provide insights on specific supply chain strategies used to overcome or minimize natural resource scarcity from six large multinational companies, representing the automotive and aluminium industry. For example, when there are only a few suppliers, companies are utilising recycling or are participating in alliances to escape resource imbalances. What became clear is that the challenge for many companies is the lack of transparency for certain materials.
