- At 94,000 words, this output represents a major contribution to the study of theatre and print culture. Moving beyond the “page versus stage” debate to spotlight the role of overlooked printed ephemera like programmes, tickets, and subscription lists in constructing theatrical collectivity, the output draws on over 300 books, 90 periodicals, and 19 archival collections from across Britain, Ireland, France, and the United States. The output is at the forefront of digital humanities research as well, using an original database of over 23,000 stage productions to present a novel theory of audience and repertoire in the modern period.
