- The work demonstrates light sheet microscopy with sample confinement based on contactless acoustic gradient forces. The approach allows the integration of real-time environmentally-controlled experiments with wide-field low photo-toxic imaging, opening up a broad range of studies in biology and medicine with real-time drug-based assays and biomechanical analyses. The research was funded by EPSRC (EP/P030017/1, EP/M000869/1 and EP/R004854/1), together with the Wellcome Trust ISSF, the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust and EU-Horizon 2020 INFRADEV “CORBEL” (Grant no. 654248). The IP from this research has been patented: “Light sheet imaging with acoustic trapping”, patents no. GB16170896 and WO2018065772A1.
