- The process of synthesis of aerogels with ambient pressure drying with water based solvent that is published in this paper is patented and patent is granted in UK and in USA. The process has been scaled up (TRL6) and ICURe grant was awarded (funded by BEIS and UK Innovative). Work is covered by publisher as Video, received newspaper media attention and covered in New Scientist. Spin out company with Newcastle University has been established (July 2020, Dragonfly Insulation Ltd.(12026868)). Company secured UK Innovate start up money (£210k, January 2020). LS is co-inventor and co-founder of the company.
