- This monograph brings together extensive research carried out over six years on a range of complex issues pertaining to the temporal interpretation of narrative discourse. The monograph is split into two parts. The first part considers the role of prominence and coherence in assigning a meaning to a narrative. The second part considers the role of tense and aspect. Each part provides distinct contributions to the field – equivalent of two journal articles for each part (four articles total) in top-tier linguistic journals – that are brought together through a common thread and underlying theory.
