- This monograph reports the results of a substantial period of research (1994-2014) into the world-famous Neolithic settlement of Orkney. The research is situated in the context of sociétés à maison, which provides a well-theorized narrative giving much broader academic appeal. Together with Richard Jones (co-director), Richards created the research design and led the field project. Richards wrote Chapters 1-9 and co-wrote Chapter 8. Charting the discovery and investigation of seven Neolithic settlements, and several passage graves on Mainland, Orkney, this volume represents the largest and most thorough research project undertaken on the Orcadian Neolithic to date.
