- This work integrates the ultra-high speed photography with the high sampling rate measurement of electrical quantities to explore pertinent arc parameters during its propagation over ice covered surface which revealed novel information about the geometry and patterns of arc propagation. The findings affected the way that researchers use mathematical modelling and the criteria for prediction of flashover on insulators. New mathematical models have been proposed by other research groups following the findings of this work. Based on the reputation of the paper, the author was invited to join the IEEE task force to prepare a relevant standard.
