- ‘Designing for the Circular Economy’ is the first comprehensive edited book covering this topic, bringing together research, best practice and case studies from business, academia and consultancy. Charter prepared and presented the proposal to Routledge. Charter had sole responsibility for editing the book, which is divided into five sections: Overview; Business Models; Design and Development; Technological and Social Innovation; and Case studies. Contributors were identified and approached by Charter based on his research knowledge, and he critiqued and edited in detail each chapter.
In addition to editing the book, Charter authored the Introduction and Chapter 3. He co-authored three further chapters, Chapter 9 with Stuart McLanaghan and Chapters 19 and 25 with Scott Keiller. Chapters 19 and 25 reports on findings from recent primary research conducted in Farnham Repair Café, which Charter established in 2015.
