- This was the first reported internally active rotor having embedded sensors that could adjust its dynamic condition autonomously using an algorithmic direct search controller. The concept is being taken forward under the EPSRC “Future Advanced Metrology Hub” (EP/P006930/1) with £1.15M to Bath (2017-2024).
The significance lies in the ability to adjust machining spindle precision autonomously.
