- This 103,500-word monograph is the first detailed study of the Zanzibar Museum, demonstrating its global reach and complex history. It is the result of over eight years of research in archives across the UK and East Africa. Research in Zanzibar, Kenya and mainland Tanzania uncovered significant quantities of hitherto unstudied material, especially in Zanzibar, where over 130 different document collections were used. Research in the UK required travel to over fifteen archives across England and Scotland for sustained periods.
