- This monograph explores an original thesis at length, necessitating a significant and comprehensive knowledge of complex philosophical and political theories. The overall thesis is not merely an application of Jacques Rancière’s theory to particular playtexts and performances but rather seeks to identify the limitations of Rancière and his theory’s previous applications throughout theatre and performance studies. This requires a substantive knowledge of Rancière’s oeuvre to be able to validate such claims. Furthermore, each chapter offers a distinct and original theoretical framework within this meta-thesis, drawing from a range of sociological and philosophical perspectives so to do.
