- These results stem from work which has been carried out with support from BAE Systems through an iCASE award. This industrial support was given because understanding the role of the interface and spin diffusion length in ferromagnetic and non-magnetic thin film stacks on the transport of spin information is crucial for two reasons i) the area is still contentious and ii) from an engineering perspective, it will underpin the development of lightweight synthetic materials with tailored microwave properties which have potential applications across 5G communication systems.
