- Double-weighted statement
- This is a complex output that covers the history of Chinese porcelain over several centuries, in China and the wider world, drawing on sources in six languages and several disciplines. In order to situate the emergence of this single commodity that became desirable all over the globe in its local manufacturing context, a longue durée approach was essential. The book starts with the tenth century and finishes at the dawn of the eighteenth. Many of the primary sources are in Classical Chinese, requiring a lengthy process of punctuation and translation before they can then be used for historical analysis.
