- This agenda-setting volume results from two large AHRC-funded grants examining the dynamics of Holocene human-animal-environment interactions (AH/I026456/1 and AH/L006979/1). Original data and analyses are presented to emphasise how zooarchaeology can address modern global challenges. Chapter 9, in particular presents the results of the ‘Big Data’ collated during Sykes’s 20-year career in commercial and academic research. Condensing this work into 217 pages (100,000 words) that are accessible to audiences from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds without loss of specialist information and academic quality was a time-consuming feat of writing that has been highlighted for praise by reviewers.
