- Double-weighted statement
- This volume represents the fruit of years of work: collating and assessing manuscripts; reconstructing for the first time a coherent version of a difficult and corrupt text; translating it, and comparing it with the Greek original; reporting manuscript variants and explaining editorial decisions; and at least starting the work of using a new text to address historical questions about the use of Latin in sixth-century Italy and the practical business of making such a Latin medical compilation from Greek sources. The density of the work represented on pages 74-394 (i.e. all but the Introduction and Indices) is hard to overstate.
