- This output is a 192-page monograph based on four years of full-time doctoral research and subsequent modification and revision in the light of additional archival and text-based research over a further period of three years. It is the first full-length study of Smith�s sonnets and presents a new history of the sonnet in eighteenth-century England based on an extensive corpus of poems in the form.
